Helping hospitality leaders escape the cycle of overwork, gain clarity, and move towards meaningful career growth.
Another leadership course won’t change the game.
What will? Seeing what you can’t. Being challenged to think differently. Leading with clarity, confidence, and impact - in a way that reflects who you are, not just the role you are in.
I’m Sarah. I coach leaders in hospitality and retail - people who don’t settle for “good enough.” Together, we’ll sharpen your decision-making, strengthen your resilience, and transform how you lead others and yourself. The result? More influence, deeper trust, and a team that performs at its best.
When I was running restaurants and bars, I used to say I was about people on both sides of the bar. That still holds true. Because leadership is personal. Who you are off the clock shapes how you lead on it.
Leadership isn’t about doing more. It’s about being more.
My Story
I’ve served in many leadership roles within hospitality and retail over the last 30 years. I speak the language and understand the nuances of our industry in the real world.
Before I set up Nine Yards Coaching, I was the Managing Director of a start-up bar and restaurant group for 7 years. Prior to that, I worked with a number of well-respected blue-chip companies, ranging from wine bars and pubs to sandwich shops and restaurants.
Over the years I’d fulfilled others' business dreams and also been in the driving seat of my own dream machine, yet I still felt like something was missing. The irony is that I already had the answers and the ability(!) but wasn’t sure how to navigate my next steps.
My commitment to personal growth - both mine and others' - comes from my own experiences with great coaches.
In uncertain times, they helped me find courage and solutions. Becoming a certified and accredited coach has strengthened my skills and passion for supporting hospitality leaders, driven by my belief that everyone has the ability to be extraordinary.
My driving force?
Imagine a world where every leader - from emerging talent to senior executives - sees coaching and mentoring as essential to their growth. A world where leaders regularly engage with a coach or mentor to improve their skills, make better decisions, and have a positive impact on their business and the people they lead.
Coaching and mentoring shouldn’t be reserved for the C-suite or only brought in reactively when performance dips or transitions happen. It ought to be integral to leadership development - helping leaders grow consistently and thrive in their roles.
“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do and liking how you do it.”
